It
is the time of year when we have to get ready for posting. For the first time
the majority of sales last year came from the web and we expect this trend to
continue and trust that you find the web shop easy to use. Although we are facing
quite severe inflationary pressures (wood, fabrics, postage etc) we are holding
our prices for the fourth year. We have had quite a good year so far: our post-Christmas
sales were the best for many years and we were privileged to be included in
James Govan’s “Art of the Creche: Nativities from around the World”. The book
is wonderfully browsy: from his collection of over 450 Cribs from all over the
world he features just over one hundred. As well as an article on ours he has
also included a full page colour photo and we have reproduced both on our In
the summer we spent a couple of days looking in the Newspaper Library in Colindale
for a brief feature that the Telegraph did in the very early days of our making
cribs. We thought that it was a sketch in a Saturday edition but we could not
remember the year; we eventually tracked it down to the Sunday Telegraph of
27th November 1977! This too has been included in the Thank you to those of
you who left some very kind comments on our web forum; unfortunately it started
to attract dozens of messages each day, many of them obscene so we switched
it off.
As always,
we will be grateful if you could order as early as possible: we will endeavour
to keep up with the posting.
We look forward to hearing from you
With kindest regards Joan and David Kottler.
